Linkaid: ‘You’re here for the school’: an LEA home–school liaison role
Pages 29

Linkaid is LEA-inspired support in the form of home-school liaison. Home-school liaison is generally set up by an LEA or school with the intention of forging an alliance between the school and parents which is intended for all parties to work together to help meet the interests of the child, particularly in relation to raising achievement. It is considered as a preventative strategy aimed largely at pupils at risk of underachievement. Promoting pupil achievement and ‘the active involvement of African Caribbean parents’ were two core areas of my responsibility whilst employed in the position of home-school liaison for the Multicultural Education Service (hereafter referred to as MES) of an LEA, one day a week. The role required two terms at Actdale school followed by two terms at Actmount school.
