ABSTRACT

The going online of public administration and the promotion of electronic government is booming internationally. Each country is competing with the other not only in getting existing administrative services to go online, but also in promoting electronic processing and the digitalization of legislative and judicial procedures. In the United States, Canada, Singapore, and many other countries, the promotion of e-government is being realized. In this national report, the Japanese administrative and institutional systems of central and local government, the institutional background, and e-government strategies and implementing processes will be outlined and surveyed.
