ABSTRACT

The recent debate over admission test requirements at the University of California sparked a national discussion about what is measured by the various tests—in particular, what is measured by the SAT, the popular name for the College Board’s SAT I: Reasoning Test. The public’s interest in the SAT was reflected in the media attention that greeted a June 2002 announcement that the College Board’s trustees had voted to develop a new SAT (the first administration of which is set for March 2005).
