ABSTRACT

Education reform is a constant imperative. Too many students never finish high school; many who do have not learned the skills that they will need to be productive members of society and are not prepared for college-level work; and surveys suggest that the large majority of students are not enthusiastically engaged in school. This book has had two overarching themes. First, we asked what role work-based learning can play in efforts to address these problems. Second, we asked what policymakers and educators can do to strengthen the effectiveness of work-based learning as an educational strategy.
