Avoid using the word ‘weak’. Instead, refer to your inexperience or less well-developed areas and give the strong impression that you are keen to be a good all-rounder and learn quickly. Emphasize your competence and enthusiasm in teaching literacy and mathematics.

What other things matter to you as a teacher? You may want to say something about developing co-operation, kindness, good habits, self-discipline and creativity. The panel is not appointing you to be a social worker but neither do the members want an automaton that has no interest in children’s emotional welfare.
