ABSTRACT

Foucault contended that our efforts to produce truths that govern us-our will to truthproduce inequalities because it is a violence to be ‘enslaved’ within a regime of truth:

Knowledge does not slowly detach itself from its empirical roots, the initial needs from which it arose, to become pure speculation subject only

to the demands of reason…. Rather, it creates a progressive enslavement to its instinctive violence.
