An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered. Gilbert K. Chesterton
As we have seen, Ofsted now has a very wide range of responsibilities of which the inspection of schools is just one. While there are no tricks whatsoever in this system of inspection, it is helpful to know what to expect and to become familiar with the language and landscape of school inspection. Naturally, the best source of factual information on the nitty gritty of inspection comes from Ofsted itself and its website carries all the relevant documents you may need as a teacher about to experience inspection. That said, there remains a need for teacher-toteacher communication about school inspection, to share knowledge and ‘demystify’ any remnants of uncertainty that may still remain. After all, life in schools is incredibly hectic and staying on top of everything all the time is practically impossible!
