ABSTRACT

Ronda Copher is in the Ph.D. program in sociology at the University of Minnesota concentrating on the life course with particular attention to the intersections of work and family. Her dissertation examines the differential ways in which people construct life pathways through social institutions, the meanings derived from these constructions, and their implications for life chances in a number of realms. During the drive at Minnesota, Ronda’s involvement within the union informed her ethnographic research on organizational legitimacy, and she continues to participate in grassroots efforts for social justice.
