ABSTRACT
In Chapter 3 we suggested that current assessment practice could be improved in many schools if teachers used assessment information more effectively and didn’t just mark to ensure that work has been completed. In this chapter we suggest that one, maybe radical, change teachers can make is to train their pupils to use self-assessment. The process of selfassessment helps them think about their own learning and understand it better.
