ABSTRACT

Programme development and design is more important than just content for a course of study. It is important to understand and realise that the programme development process involves more than just the separate components of the programme (i.e. that of aims, objectives, learning outcomes, content, learning, assessment and evaluation). Understanding the interrelationships between these components is key to good practice. If the interrelationships are not considered there is a danger that course aims will not be assessed, that teaching can become relatively inefficient and unfocused and that student learning is accompanied by frustration and underachievement.
