ABSTRACT

Very often in research methods courses, especially at diploma rather than final year degree level, you are not required to carry out a piece of research involving the collection of new data. Instead, you may may be asked to analyse critically a piece of research in published form. This chapter is intended to provide some guidelines for this process. Providing a critical analysis of a research paper should draw upon all the skills and knowledge of the research process that I have aimed to impart throughout this volume.
