ABSTRACT

Your function when handling questions is, in effect, to hold a group discussion. You are, in other words, in the same position as the chairperson in a meeting. So the speaker is on his or her toes in a new way during question time, for he or she is now fully exposed, and open to probing, as well as approval for his social skills. He or she must lead the group, answer the points which are being raised, watch for people who want to ask the next question, and tactfully stop those who want to interrupt, all at the same time. It requires presence of mind, and a skilful technique, to do all this successfully. But if you can round off your presentation with a controlled and useful questiontime your presentation will be even more impressive and you will gain in respect as a speaker.
