ABSTRACT
Figure 9.1 shows what can happen in cases of inadequate design and maintenance of structure subject to chloride attack. The bridge is in Ohio and has a sign underneath saying ‘Beware of falling rocks’. The car park was also in the Midwestern USA and collapsed overnight without injury or loss of life but with considerable expense to the owner.
