ABSTRACT
Buildings with the same purpose can differ considerably in both their size and their shape. They will also differ in the extent to which they provide useful accommodation rather than just space, and in the relative amounts of their functional elements. That is, they will differ in their design efficiency. The study of the physical form of buildings and of the quantitative relations between their enclosing elements is sometimes called building morphology.
