ABSTRACT

Photogrammetry is widely used in many fields of engineering, e.g. aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding and process, as well as for structural monitoring. The following examples will illustrate a number of projects where photogrammetry has been used for monitoring purposes. These examples will highlight the many advantages that photogrammetry can provide. One of the main advantages is that it is a non-contact measurement system, i.e. measurements can be undertaken of objects with difficult or restricted access, objects which are dangerous, and objects which are in motion. For this last case it is necessary to take all the necessary photography simultaneously in order that the motion can be frozen at one moment in time.
