ABSTRACT
The pharmacological action of anandamides closely resembles that of THC in a variety of screening tests specific for psychoactive cannabinoids.4,5,25,32 Both THC24 and anandamide34 also seem to share a common biphasic stimulation-sedation course, reflecting the initially lesser and eventually greater amounts of drug available after administration.5,15 In addition, THC and anandamide can be mutually antagonistic at very low doses,6 indicating receptor-site competition, and exhibiting cross-tolerance.26
