ABSTRACT

Figure 16.4. Concentration-response curves for the induction of fatty acyl-CoA oxidase (FACO) activity by the enantiomers of (a) 2-(4-chlorophenoxy) pentanoic acid (R (+)-CPPA and S(- )-CPPA) and (b) 2-(4-chlorophenoxy) octanoic acid (R(+)-CPOA and S(- )-CPOA) as compared with clofibric acid (CPIB). Cultured hepatocytes were incubated for 72 h in the presence or absence of compound. The results are expressed as a percentage of FACO induction as compared with the control activity (0.59±0.25 nmol H2O2/min/mg protein). Each point represents the mean ±SEM of determinations from six dishes of cells.
