ABSTRACT

A 2-week study was part of an interspecies study with clobuzarit; it was similar in design to that described for clofibrate. This work has been described previously (Orton et al., 1984). The higher dose used in the marmoset (45 mg kg-1) was selected to produce steady-state serum levels of 100 –200 µg ml-1, since in the mouse serum levels of 100 µg ml-1 and above produced significant liver enlargement and peroxisome proliferation; the mean serum level in the marmoset study was 120±30 µg ml-1. There were no changes in the marmoset liver by weight, by light or electron microscopy, or in hepatic microsomal and peroxisomal enzyme activity.
