ABSTRACT
An auxiliary means a ‘helper’ or a ‘secondary aid’. Auxiliary verbs are used to help another verb form one of its tenses, moods or voices. There have been many examples in this section already – for instance, all those verbs listed under imperfect or continuous tense forms.
