ABSTRACT

The first women’s group to record. They had three titles in the Victor catalog of February 1903: “La Paloma” (#1887), “Medley” (#1889), and “The Waterfall” (#1900). Walsh says he never heard any of these, nor had anyone else he knew of; and that they “must be among the rarest records.” [Walsh 1965/5.]

An American record issued ca. 1920, of which only nine examples are known. The material includes Sousa marches, operatic arias, and violin solos (by Vera Barstow). Labels were triangular. The Pan Phonograph Co. is identified as the source. Lyric seems to have supplied the masters. [Rust 1978.]
