ABSTRACT
Russian pianist, conductor, and composer, born in Semyonovo, Russia. He studied at the St. Petersburg and Moscow conservatories, winning the composition prize for his opera Aleko (1892). At that time he also wrote his most famous work, the “Prelude in C-Sharp Minor” for piano. In 1891 he performed his second piano concerto.
