ABSTRACT

American popular singer, born in Louisville, Kentucky. She studied in France, and is said to have successfully auditioned by telephone for the American Opera Co., New York. She sang with various companies in the 1920s, then turned to radio in 1925 and found her niche. Under the name Olive Palmer, she became one of the most acclaimed radio vocalists in the 1930s, as the “Olive Palmolive Girl” on the Palmolive soap program, then on the Goodyear and Buick programs. She dropped out of sight in 1937, however, and did not return to public performance.
