ABSTRACT

An American firm with offices in Newark, New Jersey, and New York, active in the late 1890s. They issued brown wax cylinders and catalogs. In 1899, issues of Phonoscope the firm advertised “the only successful violin records-loud, clear and distinct,” played by T. Herbert Read. Other artists on their records-“strictly first class originals”—included Billy Golden, Dan Quinn, Vess Ossman, William Hooley, S.H. Dudley, Harry Macdonough, the Lyric Trio, Cal Stewart, the original American Quartet, and Estella Mann.
