Braddock, along with the 44th and 48th Foot, arrived in Virginia in March 1755. By May, the force, regulars, provincials, and Royal Artillery, was assembling at Fort Cumberland, Wills Creek. They were delayed from leaving on schedule by the lack of supplies forthcoming from the various colonial governments and the need for additional recruits for both regular and provincial units. The British expedition, finally fully assembled and provisioned, marched out from Fort Cumberland on 10 June.
