Capture of colonists by Indian troops was a common feature of the French-Indian War. Two contemporary accounts of English citizens who were captives of the French-allied Indians describe very different types of treatment. One of the accounts was written by a woman and the other by a man. The first described here is a harrowing account by a woman who was seized, along with her children.
