ABSTRACT
The commonest source of inhaled carbon monoxide is incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. In smoke inhalation, however, poisoning may be due to hydrogen sulphide and cyanide as well as carbon monoxide. In smoke inhalation it is important also to look for inhalational injury of the upper airways (Lee-Chiong, 1999).
