ABSTRACT
The history of truth, which is a short way of saying the history of faith in a truth hoped for but not seen, is a history of veils, a history of separation: truth as the anticipated unveiling of that which is concealed, or truth as ultimate agreement or adequation between the representation and the thing being represented (that is, the removal of the veil of language that separates the word from the thing).
