ABSTRACT

We have been blessed with a pair of lower limbs which work in excellent coordination. All the muscles, joints, afferent, and efferent nerve impulses work so efficiently and are so well co-ordinated that we hardly realize how we stand, walk, run, dance, jump, climb effortlessly and with fluid ease. We all use the same walking tools and mechanics, yet it is so easy to spot a friend even from a distance from that trademark walk. It is interesting to watch people walking on the street, young or old, tall or dwarf, male or female, obese or lean as each one of them seems to have grown a unique walking style. And, to crown it all, some have fashion designed the walk into a catching, rhythmic art form (cat walk). Here are some relevant walking titbits.
