ABSTRACT

Indians are known for sitting cross legged for long hours at work and during worship. In fact some do not keep a table and chair at the workplace and carry out their business by sitting cross legged. Repeated pressure over lateral malleolar areas lead to formation of bursae on both the feet (Fig. 14.1). Similarly Muslims who worship by offering “Namaz” from the age of seven years, five times a day, lifelong, also develop “Namaz” callosities on the left lateral malleolus and dorsolaterally. These callosities develop because of the peculiar position of the left foot during namaz ( Fig. 14.2).
