ABSTRACT
Part VIII described security for emerging technologies such as data warehousing. It also addressed data mining for security applications as well as the privacy problem. In Chapter 21 we discussed security for data warehouses. We discussed both forming the secure data warehouse from the secure heterogeneous data sources as well as managing the secure data warehouse. In Chapter 22 we discussed data-mining applications for security. We discussed both national security and cyber-security. We discussed various security threats and data-mining solutions. Both data warehousing and data mining exacerbate the inference and privacy problems. We addressed privacy in Chapter 23. We discussed various aspects of privacy and provided an overview of privacy-preserving data mining. We also discussed the federated database approach to data sharing and at the same time ensuring privacy.
