ABSTRACT

The case of Mr. T, presented in chapter 3, opens the way to further considerations of the theoretical substructure supporting the analytic process, with particular emphasis on the role of aggression conceived as a motivation directed to overcoming obstacles rather than a drive-based theory. We can make the following observations about the case material regarding Mr. T:

(1) Nowhere in the case presentation or discussion is there any mention of aggression as a drive, or of any other drives.
