Professional development

I’ve always taken the view that being a coordinator puts you into a middle management role within the primary school management team. How can the coordinator contribute to the management of staff development? What is the point of staff development? This seems a trivial question but it is surprising that even some of the best schools haven’t got a clear picture of the purpose of staff development and, as a result, the overall effect doesn’t have the impact that it should have.
