ABSTRACT
The ectoderm is the external (protective) germ layer. Ectoderm (ectoblast) is classified as extraembryonic (anmiotic epithelium) and embryonic. The embryonic ectoderm differentiates into the surface ectoderm and the neuroectoderm. The ectomesenchyme is derived from the neuroectoderm.
