ABSTRACT
The first primordia of gonads are known as the genital ridges. The genital ridges (formed by gonadal blastema) appear on the medioventral surface of the urogenital ridges. The genital ridges extend from T6 to S2. As genital ridges are formed, the former urogenital ridges are called mesonephric ridges.
