ABSTRACT

When you copy down your title, make sure you copy it down correctly. It is amazing how many students hand in essays with the title copied out slightly wrong. If you answer a question slightly different from the one that was set, your answer will be slightly different from the one the tutor expects. Tutors go to a lot of trouble to word their questions very carefully to say precisely what they mean. Altering a word, or a punctuation mark, can make a big difference. There is no point letting your mind get to work on the wrong question. Check out the examples in Box 6.2 to see how much difference a small error in copying can make. Be careful.
