ABSTRACT

A weak student will hand an essay in as soon as the conclusion is written and the final item is added to the reference list. This is partly because a weak student will finish the essay very close to the deadline, and partly because a weak student will think that when the last section is written the essay is complete. A good student will reach the stage that we have reached in this book, having written the complete essay with all its sections of text, references and illustrations, and will then pause before handing it in. This is possible because the good student will have completed all the stages up to this one well in advance of the deadline. It is necessary because the essay can still be improved.
