ABSTRACT

A poster is a means of communication. Like an essay, it presents information and ideas in the form of a response to a specific question or instruction. However, whereas an essay is designed to be read page by page on little sheets of paper, a poster is designed to be put up on the wall and seen all at once as a single object, often with the person who made it standing in attendance. Whereas an essay is a bit like a journal paper that is likely to be read carefully by somebody who has settled down to study it, a poster is likely to be looked at in a crowded room by people moving from poster to poster talking about the things they see.
