ABSTRACT
The chapter examines the commonly recognized different types of social enterprise (co-ops, social fi rms, community business, trading charities, etc.), and explores the typical governance issues they face. Governance here refers to systems and processes concerned with ensuring the overall direction, supervision and accountability of an organization (Cornforth, 2004a).
