ABSTRACT
Orpheus was a mythical singer, poet, and musician, the power of whose music could entrance tigers and attract rocks and oak trees. Usually regarded as the son of the Greek god Apollo and one of the Muses, he eventually (like his father) became associated with healing, oracles, and rites of initiation.
