ABSTRACT

According to Herodotus (6.84), to drink in Scythian style means to drink wine without mixing it with water, a sign to the Greeks of an almost indecent lack of refinement. Other barbarian practices, such as making cloaks out of human scalps and drinking out of gilded skulls, were also attributed to the Scythians.
