ABSTRACT
Even during Hegel’s lifetime, the aridity of these three syllogisms of Philosophy was sharply criticized. In the 1827 edition of the Encyclopedia they were suppressed by Hegel, yet he reintroduced them in the final edition of 1830. Even if we cannot know why he made those decisions, it is possible to imagine that, for once, Hegel was overwhelmed by the attacks on his work.
