ABSTRACT

New technologies have provided a multitude of products intended to improve quality of life, simplify tedious tasks, and provide entertainment or recreational enjoyment. Although these products are intended to be-and often are-helpful, their design may also result in injuries to users. Such injuries are sometimes due to misuse of the products; users may fail to follow the instructions and warnings or put the product to some unforeseeable use. Other times, the problem lies with the product. When a product is designed in such a way that it can cause injury or death when used in its intended manner (or in a foreseeable misuse), the manufacturer may be held strictly liable for damages caused by hazards associated with the product.
