ABSTRACT

Species of Trichomonas are found in humans, monkeys, rodents, birds and lower invertebrates. Three species are found in humans, namely T. tenax, which is a harmless colonizer of the human mouth; T. hominis, which colonizes the cecal area of the large intestine; and T. vaginalis, a common cause of vaginitis.
