ABSTRACT

Some material systems show no easily observable signs of internal degradation phenomena until the systems fail. The Conductive Anodic Filament (CAF) failure mode that was the subject of the data analysis in the previous chapter is an example. Other material systems show continuous degradation over time. In this chapter, we examine how kinetic models can be used in the analysis of such data, and what sort of models we need of how the kinetics translates to the observable degradation. We also analyze an example data set.
