ABSTRACT

After returning from Africa, Keeney resumed his academic responsibilities, all the while continuing his furtive but passionate study of indigenous healing. He was convinced that if his colleagues discovered the nature of his research interests, he would lose a significant amount of credibility. He had worked hard to establish himself as a force within the family therapy community, authoring books, presenting at conferences, and collaborating with some of the biggest names in the field on ways to apply cybernetic theory to clinical practice.
