ABSTRACT
The neurodegenerative diseases that cause dementia are common, especially in industrialized nations whose population is aging.1 They cause substantial morbidity both to the people with dementia and to the people who care for them, typically a family member.2,3 Extensive research efforts are underway to address these problems. The success of these research efforts rests in large part on the effective enrollment of persons with dementia as research subjects.
