ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter definitional issues surrounding child neglect that influence the accumulation of research data, policy formation, and program and intervention development were discussed. Questions regarding what causes families to neglect their children also have an effect on research, policy, and practice. In this chapter proposed causes of child neglect will be explored, including various causal models that have been suggested.
