ABSTRACT
ERVIN EPSTEIN was born May 17, 1909 in Vallejo, California. When he was a teenager his family moved to San Francisco where he attended college and medical school at the University of California. Following a residency in Dermatology in Los Angeles, he entered a lifetime of private practice in Oakland, California, interrupted in 1942–1945 for service in the U.S. Army. His commitment to teaching led to Associate Professorships at Stanford and the University of California.
