ABSTRACT
SHIGEO OFUJI was born in Tokyo, Japan on September 9, 1917. He received his M.D. at the Kyoto University School of Medicine in 1941 and he also holds a Ph.D. For 30 years he served on the staff of the Department of Dermatology at Kyoto University, rising to Professorship and Chairmanship in 1962. By 1973 he was named Dean of their School of Medicine. As Emeritus Professor he later served for over 10 years as Director of Kansai Denryoku Hospital. Author of numerous papers, 48 in English, he is widely recognized for having identified a new form of folliculitis, as well as a unique erythroderma.
