ABSTRACT

WILLIAM JAMES ERASMUS WILSON was born in London in 1809, of Scottish parents. He was educated at Dartford and Swanscombe, and in 1825 began his medical studies at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital as a pupil of Mr. Abernethy, with whom he soon became a great favorite. In 1831 he was admitted to the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and soon afterwards became an assistant at University College.
